Yes, there will be an Elf Shelf this year! 
     Deadline extended to October 15

 All applications must be submitted by October 15, 2020.  No applications will be accepted after this date.

This season, Elf Shelf will operate differently due to the pandemic. There will NOT be in person shopping.
  • Every applicant must fill out an application.
  • Applicants with children will fill out a wish list for each child. 
  • Toys for each child will be purchased from this wish list (total spent per child will not exceed $50).
  • Toys will be picked up during set distribution dates at Grove United Methodist Church, 1020 Tyler Ave.   See schedule below.   
  • Food vouchers will be distributed along with toys on distribution days.  Food only recipients will be notified of toy distribution days and will receive their food vouchers then.

Completed applications and copies of documentation must be submitted by October 15, 2020 and can be dropped off at:
  • Drop Off Box outside door at Department of Social Services  

       ALL APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS AND TELEPHONE NUMBER 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR VERIFICATION:

  • Photo ID of applicant
  • Proof of Address  (Photo or copy of JulyAugust or September bill with current Radford address)
  • Proof of Financial Eligibility (see Federal Poverty guidelines  200%)                                                         -photo or copy of social service benefits card for the family such as SNAP, Medicaid/Premier, SSI, TANF                                                                                                                                     -4 weeks of current pay stubs for each employed family member

Radford Elf Shelf is a 100% volunteer organization whose mission is to offer dignified Christmas assistance to low income families in Radford in the form of gifts for children newborn-18 years of age and food vouchers for any income eligible family.

How is Elf Shelf Funded
Radford Elf is funded entirely through community donations and occasional grant awards.  Annual letters of solicitation are sent to Radford residents and businesses. The money received is used to buy new toys/gifts and to finance the food voucher portion of Elf Shelf.  Donations of new toys/books are received from individuals as well as through toy drives by local churches, businesses, and civic groups.
